Fun Asparagus Appetizers + A Stunning Bouquet
You may have noticed that at Take Them A Meal, we love asparagus! It's beautiful to grow in the garden, is delicious as a side, and can be used in so many ways to adorn dinner plates or appetizer trays. May 24th is National Asparagus Day and because this fun little day is right around the corner, I'm sharing some quick, easy, and festive ways you can use this delicious garden vegetable. Whether it's to wow guests at a gathering or your family around the dinner table, asparagus never disappoints.
Depending on where you live, asparagus will likely be in season soon. It is a spring crop and is enjoyed most when it's fresh, making it an excellent "in season" vegetable to add to your grocery cart. It is versatile and easy to incorporate with almost any meal. It can be grilled, pan seared, fried, roasted or baked. It's high in fiber, folate and vitamins A, C and E! If you are taking a meal with asparagus, you are providing wholesome nutrition along with the love you are cultivating by taking a meal.
In honor of National Asparagus Day and (the cute little spear that adorns our Take Them A Meal logo), I've rounded up some tasty recipes that showcase this adorable green veggie!

As an aside, if you are looking for recipes that utilize vegetables in season, the cookbook, Simply in Season by Mary Beth Lind and Cathleen Hockman-Wert, shares recipes that are reminiscent of the fresh foods that were commonly grown in home gardens.
Not only can you enjoy asparagus on your dinner plate, but you can create a table centerpiece everyone will remember! Here's what you'll need to make your own stunning, spring asparagus bouquet. I made the one in the pictures shown here and I am floored by how beautiful it is yet uncomplicated to make!
