Are You Ready for National Friendship Day?
If you're like me, you probably didn't know that National Friendship Day is the first Sunday in August each year.
Over the past two months, my daughter has been recovering from knee surgery. Her pain management and rehab have made for an unusual summer, but one of the highlights has been the stream of young friends who have come to our house to visit with her. She can be having a down day, but her face brightens as soon as a friend opens the door.
These young girls genuinely care for one another and have lots of fun together! As a mom, I like knowing that my daughter will have a support system of good friends as she moves through life. She will need it - we all need it. She's making friendships now that could last a lifetime.
As Friendship Day approaches, who has been a significant friend in your life? Who might you reach out to this year? It can be as simple as...
Sending a text
Sending a card
Calling to share a memory
Sharing an old photo or song
This quote is a favorite of mine and is perfect for Friendship Day:
"It's not what we have, but who we have."
Winnie the Pooh
